7 Ways to Fire up Your Job Search Attitude |
When Do You Need To Fire Up Your Job Search Attitude?
Whatever you reach after on your path in life, it will always take work, whether or not they have any value. It requires an attitude for success, even when searching for a job.
Did you get fewer calls on the last run of applications than you expected? Or maybe you got no interviews or just a few? Worse yet, did they say something like “Don’t call us, we’ll call you?” It’s time to Fire Up your Job Search Attitude!
What Is Firing Up Your Job Search Attitude?
In human nature, attitude takes you a lot further than you’d realize. Can you remember in school? Remember how things you liked seemed to go a lot better than those you didn’t? Maybe it seemed it went better so you liked it. In reality, it’s possible that it went better because you liked it. Your attitude at any given time will have the strongest impact on what you are doing then!
Sharpening Your Attitude for a Better Job Search
Here are some suggestions to improve your attitude any time you are searching for a job.
1. Get Real: First off, there are always those looking to hire people, even if say they aren’t. Some may be convinced they actually are. Secondly, if you are trying to start with your dream job in the first place, dream on. It takes time and experiences to develop your dream. Don’t take this suggestion too hard, as it simply builds on human nature, and shatters what most people think up to some point in their life. You get your dreams by working for them!
2. Think Forwardly: Don’t just think what to do. Think about getting it done, better, and faster. Thinking like this can help you improve as it leads to a winning attitude which leads to more success (at everything). Make sure to show this creativity somehow to the interviewer.
3. Spot what you definitely won’t love doing: It’s wise to prepare not to do things that you are sure you won’t like doing. It will be hard to do them with a positive attitude. Imagine doing it every day, week after week, forever! It probably won’t take you far.
4. More closely identify what you do love going: If you know what you do like doing, and can find it in a job, that’s great. If you don’t put much thought in it though, you might overlook some opportunities. Don’t worry too much what others think as far as what is good and what isn’t. Just because they hate the thought of being in a kitchen cooking, for example, doesn’t change the fact that you may love cooking. Be yourself!
5. Interviewee or Interviewer? When being interviewed, you will also want to do a little interviewing. Find the answers you want about the job while they find theirs. It will also likely show more of your desire to work there, or maybe help you decide that you don’t. Ask questions that show you are looking to improve before you even start.
6. Stand Up on your Own 2 Feet: Don’t just exist under-confident, or in self-pity. Attitude works both ways. If your attitude is that you can’t do the job, or things related to it, so may be theirs. Self-Pity is a negative attitude that can easily be seen from miles away, and often they hope it stays there or further. Build on where you can get to, and don’t undersell yourself. Though another note, don’t be overconfident either… Just be yourself.
7. Research: It’s wise to watch what you do and see what results it brings. Ask questions when you have a chance. Online there are many more resources as well to learn from. If you get the chance, talk with those in the field of Human Resources (Hiring and Firing) and they should prove to be invaluable.
