1. Be Prepared: Get your information together such as what you want to change your career to, what you have done and where you did it. It may be a great time to get a few more certifications or training in the field(s) you think you want to move into. It would be wise to have a resume professionally prepared to document this.
2. Expect the Unexpected: At the interview a potential employer will likely ask a lot of questions. Some might sweep you off your feet. Don’t let them. It’s wise to have a good idea what they might ask and be prepared for yet more.
3. Ask those already in your new field: You can get a lot of great information from those that have the career that you want to change to. Ask them for the details of the daily tasks, benefits, downfalls, and whatever else they want to say.
4. Remember, it’s ok: Changing careers isn’t unusual. Actually no matter what you have done, there will be common ground. They might appreciate your seasoned experiences with people, organizations, and skills.
5. Refresh your skills and add new ones: Be sure your qualifications are current. Also look at what the new target career requires, and focus on getting those skills as well.

What do you already have that might give you an advantage (experience)? Each interview will likely build you better confidence, and help you better focus your career change.
